How It Works
Our globally patented design
Engineered to save your life.

Overall
Skate Brake is easy to use and smooth at any speed. It is engineered like a car brake, so the harder you press the more it will brake. To activate, pivot your back foot and press down, similar to a scooter. And don't worry, it will never throw you off the board.

Brake Pedal
This aluminum A380 pedal will become your new best friend. It's designed to withstand hundreds of pounds of pressure while providing a strong and sturdy platform for your weight. As an exposed component, it will see significant amounts of wear and tear, but you can trust your brake pedal to last.

Brake Pads
Advanced ceramic brake pads are the key to reliable stopping power. They dissipate heat quickly and provide a strong grip, ensuring smooth and reliable braking. These pads are easily replaceable so you can keep your brake working like new at all times.

Hanger and Base Plate
This A380 aluminum die-cast hanger and base plate provide the backbone of our brake. Built with high tolerances and rugged construction for unmatched durability, rider feel, and compatibility. You can trust our hanger and base plate to provide a stable and reliable foundation.

Brake Discs
Made of durable hardened steel, our brake discs can handle continuous abuse and thermocycling. They're built to last the lifetime of the brake, providing reliable stopping power whenever you need it.

Pusharms
Our 5052 sheet metal aluminum pusharms transfer vertical force to horizontal force on the brake discs via a simple pivot system. Annodised with the stunning VibeRide blue, the pusharms also serve as the visual centrepiece of the brake truck.

Wheels
Premium wheels with brake pads attached. Designed for all-around use, whether it's cruising, precision turning, or high speed variable terrain. These 70mm 78A PU wheels are the perfect complement to the brake, providing a smooth and reliable ride.

Engineering the Skate Brake
Created by skaters, for skaters - the Skate Brake™ boasts over two decades of engineering. It's is easy to use, and feels smooth at any speed. Skate Brake is globally patented and is engineered like a car brake - so the harder you press, the more it will brake. To brake, just pivot your back foot and press down - it feels like a scooter. And don't worry, it will never throw you off the board.

Wheels
Our custom wheels are made of 78A polyurethane and feature a special hub for pad attachment. They're designed for all-around use on multiple terrains, providing reliable grip for safe braking, while still being hard enough for fast hillbombs and soft enough for comfortable cruising. Our wheels are the perfect complement to our custom brake, providing a smooth and reliable ride.

Not at all. Since the brake is behind your back foot, pressing the pedal doesn't jolt your center of gravity forward.
Plus, if you ever find the brake power is too strong - you can easily adjust the brake power with the pedal.
Nope! Put your feet and weight exactly how you normally ride, and when it comes time to brake, just pivot your heel onto the pedal. Ride and carve the exact same, just feather your back foot for speed control.
Yep! You can rig these brake trucks onto any piece of wood with 4 holes! Get a retrofit kit to mount on your board here:
Skate BrakeYou bet. The Skate Brake is designed & tested to work at high speed (30MPH+). We knew people (including ourselves) would want to push this brake to the limit and do multi-minute intense downhills, so we designed it around that. (Please be careful about overheating - if it gets hot, take 5)
For sure! You've got control over your brake power. There's a bolt at the back of the brake that you can either loosen or tighten to tweak the responsiveness. You can dial it in to find the feel that's just right for you. But when it comes to really steep hills, we suggest cranking that brake power up to high. Don't stress, it's not gonna buck you off your board or anything. What it does is give you the extra stopping power you need when you're dealing with serious speeds or trying to slow your roll on steep downhills.
Here's a video demo on how to do this:
Our brake pads, for most riders, last about 2-5 years before needing to be replaced. If you're a die-hard skater bombing hills on the daily and constantly hitting the brakes heavily, you might be looking at closer to a year.
The cool part? You can grab replacement pads right from our website, and we'll even show you how to switch 'em out. So no need to drop cash on a whole new brake.
For the front truck, you've got free rein. Mix and match, do whatever feels right for your ride.
The rear truck is currently only compatible with VibeRide wheels - but before you complain - we know the manufacturing behind skate wheels. They're all the same, no matter the name. These are the best quality wheels for longboarding, guaranteed.
