Skate Brake System

Feels like a scooter, works like a car

Feels like a scooter, works like a car.

Overall

Skate Brake is easy to use and smooth at any speed. It is engineered like a car brake, so the harder you press the more it will brake. To activate, pivot your back foot and press down, similar to a scooter. And don't worry, it will never throw you off the board.

How It Works

Created by skaters, for skaters - the Skate Brake™ boasts over two decades of engineering. It's is easy to use, and feels smooth at any speed. The harder you press, the more it will brake. To brake, just push down with your foot and smoothly come to a stop.

The brake is unreal. Works as advertised, no gimmicks or BS. I can’t stress how cool it is, how easy it is to feather the brake to adjust speed, and how much control you retain over the board, even at high speeds.

Not at all! Since it is located behind your back foot, pressing the pedal doesn't jolt your center of gravity forwards. If you do ever find the brake power is too strong, you can easily adjust it to be less with a pin on the back of the brake.

Our brake pads are seriously tough. For most riders, you're looking at about 2-3 years before you'll need to think about replacing them. If you're a die-hard skater bombing hills on the daily and constantly hitting the brakes heavily, you might be looking at closer to a year.

The cool part? When it's time for new pads, we've got you covered. You can grab replacements right from our website, and we'll even show you how to switch 'em out. So no need to drop cash on a whole new brake. We've got your back!

Yep! You can rig these brake trucks onto any piece of wood with 4 holes! Get a retrofit kit to mount on your board here:

Skate Brake

For sure! You've got control over your brake power. There's a bolt at the back of the brake that you can either loosen or tighten to tweak the responsiveness. You can dial it in to find the feel that's just right for you. But when it comes to really steep hills, we suggest cranking that brake power up to high. Don't stress, it's not gonna buck you off your board or anything. What it does is give you the extra stopping power you need when you're dealing with serious speeds or trying to slow your roll on steep downhills.

Here's a video demo on how to do this:

Adjust brake power

For the front truck, you've got free rein. Mix and match, do whatever feels right for your ride. The rear truck is currently only compatible with VibeRide wheels, however we're working on a solution that'll allow you to use our brake truck with all your favourite longboard wheels.

Nope! Put your feet and weight exactly how you normally ride, and when it comes time to brake, just pivot your heel onto the pedal. Ride and carve the exact same, just feather your back foot for speed control.

You bet. The Skate Brake is designed & tested to work at high speed (30MPH+). We knew people (including ourselves) would want to push this brake to the limit and do multi-minute intense downhills, so we designed it around that. (Please be careful about overheating - if it gets hot, take 5)

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!

I chose the polar pines board and it didn’t come as advertised. The “the original longboard brake” was not on the board as advertised. I feel scammed because I would’ve chose a different board if I had known it didn’t come as advertised. The retro vibe it gave was the whole reason I chose polar pines, but I guess they like false advertising their product.

Awesome!!!

I bought a long board 20 years ago (I’m 44) I used it a couple of times and was intimidated by it so never rode it. Well 20 years later I found the Viberide break and have been riding almost everyday. I just recently bought a full break board so my son can come with me on my longboard adventures. I definitely recommend!

Smart and Creative Innovation!

As someone with experience in skateboarding and freestyle skating, I've tried various skating products. However, I had never encountered a skate product with a built-in braking system that doesn't require a remote or electricity until I discovered VibeRide. It completely changed my perspective on skating down hills and bombing slopes with ease. I would recommend this product to anyone, regardless of age, who is new to skateboarding. The beauty of VibeRide lies in its simplicity and ease of use. With just a day's worth of practice, you can confidently ride down slopes and hills of varying elevations, making intimidating terrains feel manageable.
