This Cruiser Series brake system slowly wears down the rear wheels, and the average rider will need to replace their rear wheels every 1-4 years depending on use. Many riders, however, will never need to replace the wheels as it wears down very slowly.
Yep! You can rig these brake trucks onto any piece of wood with 4 holes! Get a retrofit kit to mount on your board here:
Skate BrakesNope! Put your feet and weight exactly how you normally ride, and when it comes time to brake, just pivot your heel onto the pedal. Ride and carve the exact same, just feather your back foot for speed control.
You bet. The Skate Brake is designed & tested to work at high speed (30MPH+). It's made to withstand heavy downhills, if needed.
Yes - it works with any 69-73mm wheels. It's compatible with any wheels in this size range, and comes stock with 70mm wheels, which are the advised size.

Saw an Instagram ad for this and impulsively bought it. Was fully expecting to return it but I got hooked the first time I stepped on the break. Absolute game changer, all my friends love it too
This skateboard definitely lived up to the hype and now might be one of my favorite possessions. It took me only 3 hours to teach myself how to ride this skateboard with relatively no prior skateboard experience. Yet after a few hours I was cruising along fairly well. Definitely would recommend for anyone interested in skateboarding.
Intuitive handling, soft braking, solid quality. I like it
Wish I had this when I was younger, the brake is so smooth. Definitely saved me on a hill I underestimated. My girlfriend who is new to skating loves it! Great buy for beginners and veterans.
Seriously so much better than I hoped for. I looked into a brakeboard after a fast, hard fall on a day too windy to footbrake that scared me out of skating to class. This board takes away all the fear and does exactly what I need. Love. It.
Pros:
- great for taking down a mostly downhill, semi-crowded campus where it's not safe to powerslide on walkways even if I knew how to
- braking is smooth, intuitive, and predictable
- perfectly carvy/pumpy/surfy on wide roads (after changing bushings)
- not too heavy to carry uphill
- enough standing platform to try basic dancing tricks
- no problems with griptape, bearings, or wheels
Cons:
- bushings were hard for my liking + no treads on the kingpin left to loosen, so I switched out the front pair for softer ones, 80-something a's maybe?
- don't love hearing the back trucks rattle on cracks and rough road, but not a huge deal
- would've been cool to have the Okina Oasis graphic from the brakeboard mini. easily the most beautiful graphic I've ever seen
In the end, I was stuck between the portability of the Mini vs the stability of this Pintail. I've got no doubts now, though. This thing is frickin sick.
The board feels excellent but is extremely loud over rough roads.
